About Us

On the Ngozumpa glacier

Who are we?  We are a 40 something couple who met in San Diego at a friends house for NYE 2003.   Kevin had just returned from a 2 year around the world trip of a lifetime and I was living in Egypt working as a scuba instructor.  At the time I had given him (some sage and perhaps drunken advice) that he should leave the country again as quickly as possible or he would get sucked into the rat race and never escape…… As fate would have it, my dad fell ill and I decided in June of 2004 to move home to San Diego to help my mom take care of my dad.  While at home I figured I would take advantage of the opportunity and get my massage therapy license … I figured this would allow me to continue traveling without getting wet everyday.  My dad passed away in August 2004 and I stayed on in San Diego to help my mom adapt and to continue my massage education.

Somehow I never left after that – Kevin and I became a couple – he rejoined the corporate world of finance and I worked my way up in the spa industry.  I didn’t heed my own advice and we both got trapped.  Don’t get me wrong we have had some great times – we have a great circle of friends in San Diego – (you know who you are) – we have had some amazing adventures – 6 weeks in Africa seeing the wild animals and climbing Kilimanjaro, 3 weeks in an RV exploring the Pacific Northwest, long weekends in Mexico and even a European adventure.  I even got a job 2 years ago that moved us to north shore Kauai (have you been here??? It truely is paradise!!). However none of this can quell the itch of wanderlust and the growing dislike of the corporate world …. Now we find ourselves in 2016 having been in the rat race for over 10 years and we are planning our escape… Will you join us?
